Thu Nov 3 20:56:00 2011: We will be using NetBeans for an IDE, and Java SE 7. A short recipe about how to install stuff is here. I will be adding stuff here as it becomes important, but for now, this is enough for our purposes.

Thu Nov 3 20:33:46 2011: LABS WILL START NEXT WEEK. After a long discussion, it seems the best times to hold the labs are the following:

Horario
Mon 2pm – 4pm
Mon 4pm – 6pm
Tue 4pm – 6pm
Thu 10am – 12pm

If a student has not been assigned a lab time, it means he/she did not complete the survey, or is totally filled up with work. In this case, the students will have to either choose an available schedule or drop the course. Students have been assigned the following lab schedule.

Wed Oct 26 18:12:36 2011: Please complete the laboratory survey, and please register yourself at in the Google Groups newsgroup.

Mon Oct 17 10:48:55 2011: There is class today. We will not cover any new material, but we will be working out the class schedule. They've informed me the times for the labs: Thursdays, 10am till 12pm.

Fri Jan 7 10:10:38 2011: First version of the website is online.

Important notes:

  1. The handouts have been produced using notes, sometimes verbatim, from places such as Wikipedia, tutorials on the web (see below), and a dozen other different places. I have tried to credit the sources, and most times I think I have succeeded, but I have sometimes forgotten, simply because I didn't have enough time to prepare the classes very much in advance. I apologize for this and hope that if anyone finds that their code/notes have not been properly credited, I'd be happy to either take them out, or give the proper credit, at the original author's desire.
  2. This will be the first time I will have taught this course, and my notes are incomplete, and unedited. Many errors remain, and they are all my own poor judgement, but I would appreciate if people would let me know about them. This is work in progress, and I will myself edit these notes/complete them in future incarnations of this course.
