The main difference of spatial data models and classical data models are:
- they represent information about the n-dimensional real space Rn,
which is an infinite set of points. So, different intentional (not
extensional) techniques are used for representing infinite information
- the
intentional aspect of spatial data models influences the defined
operations (operations within the model and user defined operations)
- they
need particular algorithms for implementing the data structure, which
is based on algebraic, geometrical and topological properties
